There are two types of Astronomy that people are going to be interested in if they decide to study Jupiter: The Solar System or The Planets. I believe that you have learned about the Solar System already, as you were probably taught about the planets by school. If you didn’t learn about the planets, then you are really missing out! You need to learn all about Jupiter and the other planets in our solar system. Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system, and it also has many moons that are extremely interesting and entertaining.
One interesting thing that you should know about Jupiter: The planet may have many satellites circling it. Those would include at least two smaller moons, called moons of Jupiter. Another interesting thing that you need to know about Jupiter: The planet’s gravity is stronger than the solar system’s, so it may be pulling the moon in more regularly than we think, and it also may have a ring of ice around it. If you happen to be living on one of Jupiter’s moons, that is the biggest space debris and a potential hazard for your astronauts. Even though the moons aren’t considered hazardous to your astronauts, NASA still warns, “A large space debris body can impact nearby missions and cause damage.”
Jupiter: Our Solar System’s Largest Planet may seem like an odd subject for an astronomy class, but it actually doesn’t have to be. Jupiter is an interesting and beloved planet. When you get the opportunity, take the time to explore it in greater detail, because there are so many cool things that you can find out about this incredible world. You may even find out more things about yourself!
